History
Tahoe Tax & Accounting Services was formed in 2008. The original firm, Conlon Accountancy, was started in 1973 under the leadership of William “Bill” Conlon. After Bill’s untimely death in 2008, the firm continued with its existing employees, which included Kathleen Brown, and worked to continue Bill’s legacy of a focus on excellent service. In 2014 the firm joined forces with Drew Aguilar, the owner of Carson Valley Accounting. Drew’s leadership has brought an extra element of depth and knowledge solidifying the Tahoe Tax Team.

Kathleen Brown MA EA Co-Owner
Kathleen has been working in the tax accounting field for 18 years. Prior to that time, she was a corporate accountant in silicon valley. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of the Pacific and her graduate degree from the University of San Francisco. She enjoys helping business owners plan and meet their goals both for their businesses and personally.
Kathleen has lived in Tahoe for 20 years, enjoying her time raising her daughter, Phoebe. Her daughter is now a Sophomore in college.
Kathleen has been involved in numerous charitable organizations and community-based groups, including Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe, Live Violence Free, and most recently a Title IX task group focused on ensuring equity in athletics at the local high school.
Drew Aguilar CPA Co-Owner
Drew has over 30 years in the CPA world. He is Owner of Carson Valley Accounting. He loves to help individuals and business clients!
Originally from Napa, Drew and wife Charleen moved here in 2004 to start Carson Valley Accounting. They have two children - Diane works for Tahoe Tax & Accounting Services and Matt lives in Elk Grove with his wife, Jessica and their amazing daughters, Ava, Ivy, and Aila. A devoted fan of the Golden State Warriors, Drew also coached high school basketball in California for 14 years.
Drew’s volunteer activities are numerous, as he has brought his expertise as a volunteer to the Boards of the Boys & Girls Club of Western Nevada, the Austin Kirby Foundation, the Carson Valley Medical Center Hospital Foundation, MEFIYI and the Douglas County Community Center Foundation. He’s a 2005 graduate of Leadership Douglas County, an active Rotarian and one of 8 Volunteer Chairs of the American Century Championship. Drew was recognized as the Carson Valley Citizen of the Year in 2013.
Diane Shindelbower EA Co-Owner
Diane has been in the accounting industry since 2013, and she's been working at Tahoe Tax & Accounting Services since 2017. When she started working in accounting, she was tasked with clerical work, progressed to bookkeeping, and kept learning more about the field over the years (TAXES!). She became an Enrolled Agent in 2018.
She loves helping clients keep their businesses on track by working with them year-round with bookkeeping, payroll, and taxes!
Diane has years of experience assisting clients with Federal, California, and Nevada taxes and other state filing requirements.
Diane studied business and psychology at the University of Nevada, Reno - a combo that helps in the day-to-day of the accounting field! She’s here to help!
In her free time, she loves working out, hiking, music, traveling, and adventuring with her dogs and family. In her younger years, she played basketball (A LOT of basketball) and was in an award-winning choir in her hometown of Napa, California.
Lorraine Leonard
Lorraine grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and moved to South Lake Tahoe in 1975 where she worked in restaurants as a host, server, and manager until 2008. She was then recruited to manage a friend’s restaurant, and in addition to her restaurant duties, she started helping with bookkeeping and payroll. Eventually, Lorraine phased out of her restaurant duties and continued to learn more about bookkeeping and payroll.
She has a passion for customer service and loves anticipating and meeting people’s needs; working at Tahoe Tax & Accounting Services allows her to use her skillset and fulfill her desire to provide great customer service to our clients. Lorraine is the proud mother of three grown children and Grandmother to four grandchildren. With Tahoe as her backyard, she enjoys hiking, biking, and cross-country skiing.
Julie Threewit
Julie was raised in Sonoma County and, after many years of family Tahoe vacations, she moved to South Lake Tahoe in 1993. Between college classes, and as a small business owner beginning in 1983, Julie discovered her love of numbers and accounting early in her career. She enjoys her work with Tahoe Tax clients to help them maintain their books, get ready for tax preparation, loans, or other transactions, and assist with creating a clear picture of their company’s financial position.
Branda Warden
Branda is a college student who just graduated with her associates degree in business administration. She’s working towards creating her own business and meeting many great people along the way. She enjoys every moment, especially summer since she was born and raised in South Lake Tahoe. Branda is very active and does many activities throughout the year like working out, hiking, wake surfing, snowboarding, and many more
